Orthodontics Defined

What is orthodontics? Orthodontics is the practice of re-aligning, or straightening teeth. It may or may not involve traditional braces.

Why Are Orthodontics Necessary?

In about 30% of the population, misaligned teeth are so severe that other problems are caused, such as facial malformations, difficulty in swallowing, headaches, and jaw pain. These patients will need some form of orthodontia to give them a better quality of life.

Other people get orthodontia for aesthetic reasons. They may feel that their teeth require straightening in order for them to look their best. To have a smile you can be proud of is a good reason to investigate orthodontics.
